Good news: you don’t need matching outfits. Your family photos will look their best when everyone feels comfortable and looks like themselves. Here’s how we’d keep it simple.
The best colors for the beach
Whites, teals, neutrals and blues all look great against sand and water. They’re soft, they’re timeless, and they let your faces do the talking.
What to skip
We’d leave busy prints and stripes at home, because they tend to pull your eye away from your people. That said, it’s totally up to you. If there’s a dress you love, wear the dress.
Coordinate, don’t match
Pick one outfit first, usually the one you’re most excited about, then choose colors for everyone else that go with it. A few shades from the same family will look relaxed and put together.
Dress for playing
You’ll be walking on sand and probably wading into the shallows, so go for clothes you can move in. Light, flowy fabrics look lovely in the breeze, and bare feet are always welcome.
Want an outfit change?
Absolutely! Many beaches don’t have restrooms close by, so ask for our pop-up changing tent ahead of time.
Still not sure? Help choosing your spot and outfits is part of every session, so send us what you’re thinking and we’ll help you pull it together.
